Join one of the most unique, rapidly growing camps in Toronto. The Sports, Math And Recreation Training Camp of Toronto has operated since 1994 in North Toronto, Lawrence Park and Leaside.

 

We will have sites at John Wanless (Yonge/Lawrence), Leaside H.S. (Bayview/Eglinton), as well as three new sites in East York, the Annex and the Beach. 

Future areas include Yonge/Sheppard, Lambton Kingsway, Pickering/Ajax, Oakville, Thornhill, Markham, Richmond Hill and Barrie.

 

We are currently accepting applications for the following positions:

Camp Leader:

 

Responsibilities:

  • assist with the development, planning and organization of the camp program.
  • implement our daily program schedule.
  • supervise activities for groups of approximately 8 - 12children.
  • set up gym, arts & crafts and field activities
  • attend a training session in May or June (T.B.A.)
  • learn and teach a variety of physical activities that may be integrated with age specific math.
  • assist with a Gym-Math-Ticks event each session

The Successful candidate will have the following qualities/qualifications: knowledge and experience in at least 2 of the following areas:

  • sports
  • co operative games
  • camp songs
  • arts & crafts
  • drama
  • strategy and reasoning games

Prior knowledge/experience with current primary +/or junior P.E., Math or Art is an asset.

Confidence, self motivation and a willingness to learn new interactive, integrated games and strategies.

Good communication, promotion and public relation skills.

A willingness to interact with children and parents in order to provide the most exciting, fun and unique camp experience ever.

Maturity, professionalism and a caring personality is a must.

An ability to design, expand, organize and implement games.

 

Current First Aid qualifications strongly considered.

 

Rate: $8.50 - $9.00+/hr (negotiable re. experience)

 

Teaching prospects will gain extensive experience delivering and integrating math with P.E. while learning at least 70+ new games/approaches.

Assistant Co ordinator:

 

Responsibilities:

  • Directs the development, planning, organization and implementation of the camp program.
  • Provides leadership and guidance for staff.
  • Communicates well with staff, parents, children and the co ordinator.
  • Completes administrative tasks.
  • Opens and closes camp each day.
  • Creates a safe and nurturing environment.

The successful candidate will have the following qualities/qualifications:

Knowledge and experience in at least 2 of the following areas:

  • sports
  • co operative games
  • camp songs
  • arts & craft
  • drama
  • strategy reasoning games

Prior knowledge/experience with current primary +/ or junior P.E. Math or Arts is an asset.

Confidence, self motivation and a willingness to learn new interactive, integrated games and strategies.

Good communication, promotion and public relation skills.

A willingness to interact with children and parents in order to provide the most exciting, fun and unique camp experience ever.

Teaching prospects will gain extensive experience delivering and integrating math with P.E. while learning at least 70+ new games/approaches.

Many of our candidates have been accepted to Faculties of Education in the past few years.

Currently, 12 of our teachers hold a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) degree and are practicing teachers in the Toronto area.

Please note:

All successful applicants will be required to attend two training sessions to be held in May & June, as well as a Standard Procedures in-service meeting. Preference will be given to applicants with a background in Art, Drama, Physical Education, Computers and French.

 

Additional positions may become available over time.

Currently, the majority of our instructors are Ontario certified teachers- B.Ed degrees. 

The remaining instructors are either completing Education degrees or actively 

seeking acceptance into an Ontario Faculty of Education.
